The boys and girls and young men and women that comprise the student body of The Albany Academies all share one trait in common: the desire to be the very best they can be.
This tradition of dedication and determination has existed at our school for almost 200 years, from the days of the Union School to the change to Albany Female Academy and later Albany Academy for Girls, as well as the evolution of The Albany Academy during that time.
WHAT SETS THE ACADEMIES APART?
Today, as one fully merged independent school known as The Albany Academies, our students continue to demonstrate excellence in a rigorous curriculum that emphasizes academics, performance in the arts, participation in athletics and development of leadership skills through community service activities.
Our school is comprised of two campuses for students -- East Campus for girls and West Campus for boys -- with more than 710 students in the Early Childhood Program (ages 3-5), Lower (K-4), Middle (5-8) and Upper (9-12) Schools, and offers single-gender instruction during crucial developmental times and co-educational opportunities when appropriate. Our average class size is 12-14 students, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 10-1.

UNPARALLELED LOCATION & FACILITIES
The Academies is located in the University Heights section of Albany. Several colleges, medical centers, the state capitol, the state museum and library, and the cultural resources of the city are easily accessible from the campus.
Our school is home to a 50-acre campus that includes a Black Box Theater performing arts facility, state-of-the-art science laboratories, a greenhouse, an indoor suspended track, two international squash courts, indoor ice rink, indoor swimming pool and numerous athletic fields.
