As part of the Gifford History Speakers’ Series, Albany Academy welcomed Emmy and Peabody Award-winning filmmaker, writer, and University at Albany professor Sheila Curran Bernard on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
In the summer of 2024, we were proud to welcome new members to our custodial team who brought a wealth of experience and dedication to our Albany Academy community from their time at Saint Rose.
We’re proud to announce our Winter Scholar-Athlete Team Awards, honoring teams where 75% of the roster earned a GPA of 90.00 or higher—a true testament to their dedication and drive.

The REALM program publicly recognizes excellent literary magazines produced by students with the support of their teachers. REALM is designed to encourage all schools to develop literary magazines that celebrate the art and craft of writing.

At Albany Academy, student-led clubs provide opportunities for leadership, service, and personal growth. From the long-standing Key Club, which engages students in impactful community service, to the newly established Bible Club, which fosters open discussions on faith, students are making a difference. Whether joining an established club or starting a new one, Albany Academy encourages students to explore their passions, build connections, and contribute to the community.
When Peter Hansen ’91 learned he had gotten the job teaching American history at the Academy’s Upper School, he requested Room 212.
“As an American history student, I sat right there,” he said recently, pointing to a seat near the windows overlooking the playing fields where he excelled as a three-season athlete. “And that class is the reason I’m here.”
Sara Strope, a proud graduate of the Albany Academy for Girls (AAG) Class of 1996, embodies the school’s enduring commitment to curiosity, confidence, and care. A trailblazer from her time as a student, Sara reflects on a vibrant and dynamic Academy experience that shaped her journey to becoming a Chief Marketing Officer and influential thought leader in the tech industry.
