Albany Academy has been preparing students for college and leadership for over 200 years. In that time the definition of “preparatory” has changed quite a bit—one thing that is certain is that it will continue to change. Today, we’re educating in new ways for the creative, entrepreneurial century that lies ahead. Our teachers and faculty are not only experts in their fields, but they are also passionate about guiding each student to discover their unique learning style. The overarching goal for students is that they will love to learn and are successful at doing so. This goal requires that teachers have a superior grasp of and passion for their subject(s) and are interested in discovering with each student his/her optimal learning style. Furthermore, this goal speaks to a willingness on the part of the teacher to find the appropriate level of materials to challenge all students according to their abilities and to provide effective instruments and avenues for all students to demonstrate what they have learned.
