Sports Requirements for Grades 9-12
At Albany Academy, athletics are an essential part of the Upper School experience. Our programs promote physical well-being, teamwork, and resilience. Students learn what it means to set goals, support one another, and lead with confidence.
What's Required:
All Upper School students in grades 9 through 12 are required to participate in at least one sport each year. Successful compilation of the requirement includes consistent participation in practices and competitions, as well as a demonstration of commitment, effort, and good sportsmanship throughout the season.
Students may meet the sport requirement by completing one season of any interscholastic sport or by enrolling in the yearlong Dance Pathway.

Community Requirements for Grades 9+10
Ninth and tenth grade are formative years for exploration, leadership, and building healthy habits. To support student growth beyond the classroom, all grade 9 and 10 students must fulfill a community commitment in addition to the annual sport requirement.
What's Required:
Students can complete this requirement in one of two ways:
- Participate in a second sport, or
- Participate in one community commitment for one trimester
