From the ice to the boardroom, Mark Spiers ’99 has carried his Academy experience with him. A standout hockey forward, Hall of Fame inductee, and now president of the Alumni Association, Spiers reflects on the unique blend of athletics, academics, and opportunity that shaped him — and why he’s committed to keeping graduates connected to Albany Academy today.

Albany Academy for Girls offered Amari Duncan ’14 the high-powered academics, leadership, and networking opportunities that have helped her build a busy career empowering young people. But her first visit back as an alumna, to deliver an address for Black History Month, proved perhaps just as valuable. 

Rachele Feisthamel wanted to set the record straight about bagels. 

“It’s just flour and very little sugar. There’s nothing bad about them in moderation,” said the marketer-turned-baker. “I eat a bagel five days a week. I work out all the time. I lead a healthy life.”
