Thomas “TJ” Conti ’97, P'34, '35 built a successful career on Wall Street before returning to the Capital Region to pursue entrepreneurship, family life, and service to Albany Academy. A partner in Cardona’s Market and several Manhattan restaurants, and the founder of a coffee and vending business, Conti credits Academy with preparing him for demanding academics, leadership, and balance. Today, he gives back as a parent, coach, and alumnus, blending business acumen with a deep commitment to community.

Karen Avery ’83 has helped shape leadership at some of the nation’s leading cultural and educational institutions, from Harvard and the Smithsonian to PBS. Now a partner at executive search firm Isaacson, Miller, she recently played a meaningful role in recommending Albany Academy’s next head of school. Grounded, warm, and deeply connected to Academy, Avery credits her education and lifelong friendships with helping shape a life of leadership and purpose.

Before Katianna Hong ’02 became a Michelin-starred trailblazer, James Beard nominee, and Top Chef standout, Albany Academy teachers encouraged her to pursue culinary school. That early confidence helped spark a career defined by bold creativity, discipline, and national acclaim.
