AAG Council Update

Portrait shot of Amari Duncan '14

Dear Academy Community,

As we begin a new school year, I am honored to introduce myself as the President of the Albany Academy for Girls Alumnae Council. Stepping into this role, I do so with deep respect for Academy’s history and the women who’ve carried its legacy forward. A special shoutout to Samantha Miroin ’10, who championed this seat for the last 4 years, dedicating her time and energy, leaving big shoes to fill and a lasting impact on the Council.

Whenever you take on a role like this, the question everyone asks is: what are you going to do differently? And while I’m excited about new opportunities, things like fresh committees, ways to connect on social media, and events that bring us together; what excites me most is being a voice for tradition. My vision is to honor the extraordinary legacy of the Albany Academy for Girls while creating space for both nostalgia and new opportunities to connect.

We know the Academy has been in a season of change. With change comes both challenge and opportunity, and it can feel like a balancing act to celebrate traditions more than two centuries old while also embracing a new chapter for our school and its students. As your Alumnae Council, we are here to hold onto what matters most: that our stories, our history, and our sisterhood are not forgotten.

Most of all, I want every Alumna to know this: there is still a home for you here. Come see us at Homecoming and grab some AAG merch, volunteer to read to our Lower School students, or join one of our committees to help shape upcoming projects. Mark your calendars for our annual holiday party, and of course, Reunion Weekend is always a perfect time to reconnect. However you choose to engage, whether near or far, you are part of this community. With our Council and within these halls, you are always welcomed. Once an Academy girl, always an Academy girl.

With gratitude and excitement,

Amari Duncan ’14
President, AAG Alumnae Association
