NBA Star Brings Basketball Clinic Home to Capital Region

On June 27, 2026, students aged 11-14 from across the Capital Region gathered on the courts at Albany Academy. An NBA guard laced up his sneakers and joined them on the court as a mentor and role model. Andre Jackson, Jr., Class of 2020, returned to his alma mater to run basketball clinics through his new foundation, Foundation 44, intended on giving back to the youth.

After graduating from Albany Academy in 2020, Jackson went on to play for UConn, where the Huskies won the 2023 NCAA tournament. He was drafted into the NBA and is entering his fourth season. 

Inspiring the Next Generation

For the students who attended, Jackson offered something more tangible than motivation: a working example of someone who left Albany to compete at the highest levels, while staying connected to home. His return through Foundation 44 shows that the path from the Capital Region to the NBA is not theoretical, it's a route someone they recognize has already taken.
