A Historic Year at Albany Academy Begins

Michael Turner, Albany Academy Head of School, addresses the Academy community at Opening Ceremony 2026.

Since our foundings in 1813 and 1814, Albany Academy has stood as a home for curious minds and confident leaders, and that tradition continued as we proudly welcomed students back for the 2026–2027 school year — a year like no other, as for the first time in our history, all learners from Pre-K to Postgraduate came together in a fully coeducational setting. Every division came alive as we kicked off the academic year at our Opening Ceremony on September 10, 2026.

Opening Ceremony marked a milestone as we welcomed Mr. Michael Turner as our new Head of School. His remarks to the Academy community set a tone of excellence for the year ahead, and our community looks forward to the path we create together under his leadership.

This year, our campus is even more global, welcoming international students from Canada, China, South Africa, and South Korea. Our opening day coincided with China's Teachers' Day Celebration, and we are grateful for our Chinese students and volunteers, led by Dr. Jessica Chen P'23, '32, '33, Director of the International Program, who provided lunch in celebration of Academy teachers.

As families said their morning goodbyes and children settled into classrooms, Stephanie McCauley P'21, '24 of iSmile Studios was on hand to capture the day. Follow this link to view photos from the day, and thank you to Steph for once again sharing her talent with the Academy community.

As we look ahead to the year together, there's more good news to celebrate. We are proud to share that Albany Academy continued a second consecutive year of enrollment growth, a testament to the strength of our academic program, the closeness of our community, and the confidence families place in an Albany Academy education.
