July 1, 2026

Albany Academy is proud to welcome Michael G. Turner as Head of School, beginning today, July 1, 2026.

Turner succeeds Chris Lauricella P’20, ’22, who served Academy for eight transformative years and stepped down following the 2025-2026 academic year.

Mr. Turner brings more than three decades of leadership experience across education, private, and government sectors. He comes to Albany Academy most recently from The Shipley School from outside Philadelphia, and St. Michael's Episcopal School in Richmond, Virginia. Michael's experience spans senior administration, admissions, teaching, coaching, and consulting, with each role reinforcing his dedication to helping students reach their highest potential.

Mr. Turner has shared his enthusiasm for joining the Academy community, “Albany Academy stands at a defining moment: shaped by proud histories becoming one, guided by a compelling mission, and strengthened by a loyal community eager to move forward with purpose.”

Mr. Turner is joined in Albany by his wife, Meredith Turner. They are the proud parents of three children: Maggie, a Class of 2026 Harvard graduate; Fran, who attends Boston College (Class of 2027); and Augie, who attends the U.S. Naval Academy (Class of 2030).
