Academy Connections: Albany Academy Internship Program

At Albany Academy, we believe learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. Academy Connections is a summer internship initiative that pairs our rising freshmen, sophomores, and juniors with trusted alumnae/i, Academy parents, and community partners across a variety of industries—from veterinary care and publishing to private equity and nonprofit marketing.

This competitive program is designed to ignite student interests, strengthen professional skills, and build meaningful relationships within the Academy community. Whether a student dreams of becoming a lawyer, a literary agent, or a veterinarian, Academy Connections opens the door to explore real pathways and build real experience.

Why Intern in High School?

While fewer than 10% of high school students globally complete internships, nearly 70% of students at top colleges do. Offering these experiences during high school helps Academy students:

Gain early exposure to potential career paths
Develop workplace skills like communication, time management, and professionalism
Build confidence, independence, and a deeper understanding of their academic interests
Stand out in college applications with meaningful, hands-on experience
Form valuable mentor relationships with alumni and professionals in their chosen field

What Placements Are Available?

Internship placements span a wide range of industries offering students the chance to explore diverse career paths alongside experienced professionals. Placements are dependent on availability, but may include:
